L’incontro con il regista Julian Temple a Roma il 18 febbraio 2008 per presentare il suo ultimo film "Il futuro non è scritto - Joe Strummer". Distribuito dalla Ripley’s Film, contiene immagini di repertorio, diversi documenti inediti e interviste ad alcuni amici di Strummer che parlano di lui, seduti attorno ad un falò . “Non è un paese per vecchi”, di Joel ed Ethan Coen

Tratto dal bel romanzo di McCarthy, la pellicola appare una commistione tra road-movie e thriller criminale. Non c’è più lo slancio passato delle loro opere migliori ma fortunatamente è scomparsa anche quell’atmosfera funerea in cui comunicavano, nei loro film più esibiti e presuntuosi, che il cinema era morto. In concorso al 60° Festival di Cannes
Elogio di Sylvester Stallone – “John Rambo”
Nessun funerale cinematografico è mai stato più vitale di quelli che Stallone ha officiato per Rocky e Rambo. Se in Rocky Balboa Stallone si posizionava tra l'elegia fordiana e poetica fantasmatica eastwoodiana, in John Rambo Sly diventa una macchina da guerra mitologica come solo John Milius avrebbe potuto concepire. Autentico bodycinema. Un corpo che diventa morale di cinema. Un cinema che diventa inevitabilmente corpo. Trovando in questo snodo la sua dimensione inevitabilmente classica.

“Persepolis”, di Marjane Satrapi, Vincent Paronnaud
Adattamento animato dell’omonima comic-strip ideata e disegnata dall’artista Marjane Satrapi (che del film è anche regista insieme a Vincent Paronnaud) che attraversa d’un fiato tutta la storia moderna dell’Iran, dal 1978 ad oggi, “Persepolis” è un’opera cupa ma è capace di molta leggerezza e l’ironia. Premio della giuria al 60° Festival di Cannes e candidato all’Oscar come miglior film d’animazione -

Anche quest’ultimo film conferma che, quando la creazione non è totalmente in mano al cineasta e il soggetto a cui l’opera è ispirata non è originale, si avvertono dei segni di un compiaciuto formalismo autoriale che era invece totalmente assente nella sua filmografia nel decennio precedente. C’è un certo disagio con le forme di un musical che combina danza e morte che non esplode mai. E’ come se la genialità di Burton stia diventando sempre più “kubrickiana”, troppo costruita, anche perfettamente, sul dettaglio
