BANDO DI CONCORSO

“Eolie in video” è il concorso dedicato ai corto-
metraggi, all’interno del festival cinematogra-
fico “Un Mare di Cinema-Premio Efesto d’Oro”
promosso dal Centro Studi e Ricerche di Storia
e Problemi Eoliani.
L’obiettivo centrale dell’iniziativa -creare
nuove occasioni d’incontro, scambio e con-
fronto tra i giovani artisti che si affacciano nel
panorama cinematografico – si abbina que-
st’anno alla volontà di suscitare nel pubblico
curiosità e reale interesse verso un genere
come quello del cortometraggio, troppo spesso
frequentato esclusivamente dagli “addetti ai
lavori” o, in alternativa, presentato agli spetta-
tori attraverso estenuanti proiezioni di corti in
successione, diversi tra loro per stile, genere e
linguaggio. Il CONCORSO per cortometraggi,
organizzato in collaborazione con l’Associa-
zione Visionaria, è a tema libero ed è pensato
come occasione di elaborazione di spunti lin-
guistici e indirizzato, in maniera particolare,
verso la sperimentazione narrativa e artistica.

Volontà della nuova edizione di “Eolie in video”
è anche quella di valorizzare le occasioni di ag-
gregazione tra pubblico e registi, opere in con-
corso e momenti di spettacolo dal vivo
creando così di volta in volta dei piccoli
“eventi” legati alle proiezioni dei corti in gara.
Durante il festival, infatti, verranno organizzati al-
cuni appuntamenti aperti al pubblico dedicati
al mondo dei cortometraggi. Gli appuntamenti
di CORTI DAL VIVO saranno dei veri e propri
spettacoli/dibattito costruiti alternando proie-
zioni di corti, focus sugli eventuali corti ambien-
tati nelle isole eolie, interviste con i registi dei
corti selezionati e/o registi di chiara fama, esibi-
zioni musicali dal vivo, reading da racconti o ro-
manzi inerenti alle tematiche trattate nella
retrospettiva.

1. Il concorso per cortometraggi a tema libero
è aperto a opere italiane o straniere realizzate
dopo l’1 gennaio 2009 che abbiano una durata
compresa tra i 5 e i 30 minuti.
2. Verranno accettate, ai fini della selezione, le
opere realizzate secondo le più svariate tipolo-
gie narrative. Non verranno accettate per la se-
lezione opere a carattere pubblicitario di
prodotti commerciali, opere a carattere porno-
grafico, razzista, discriminatorio o che facciano
apologia di violenza, così come opere propa-
gandistiche.
3. Ogni regista può concorrere con una sola
opera.
NOTICE OF COMPETITION

“Eolie in video” is the competition dedicated to
short films included in the film festival “Un Mare
di Cinema-Premio Efesto d’Oro” organized by
the Centro Studi e Ricerche di Storia e Problemi
Eoliani.
The main aim of the competition -to provide
new opportunities for meetings, exchanges and
debates among young artists embarking on a
career in the film industry – is extended, this
year, to encouraging the public to take a real
interest in a genre like short films which is too fre-
quently followed only by people working in mo-
vies or, alternately, presented to spectators in
the form of endless series of shorts shown one
after the other, though they are all different in
style, genre and language. The COMPETITION
for short films, organized in collaboration with
the Associazione Visionaria, is for works on any
subject and is planned as an opportunity to de-
velop linguistic forms, with particular reference
to experimental narrative and artistic styles.

A further aim of this year’s “Eolie in video” is to
capitalize on the opportunities for encounters
between the public and the film directors, the
works competing and the live show itself, gra-
dually creating a series of “events” linked to the
screenings of the shorts in the competition. In
fact, during the festival, there will be a series of
meetings open to the public dedicated to the
world of short films. The meetings for CORTI DAL
VIVO (SHORTS LIVE) will be real shows/debates
consisting of screenings of shorts alternating
with focus on any shorts set on the Aeolian Is-
lands, interviews with the directors of the shorts
selected and/or famous directors, live musical
performances, readings from stories or novels
pertaining to the themes illustrated in the retro-
spective.

1. The competition for short films on any subject
is open to Italian or foreign works made after 1st
January 2009 and between 5 and 30 minutes
long.
2. Works using any kind of narrative technique
will be accepted for selection. However, works
advertising commercial products, works of a
pornographic, racist, or discriminatory nature or
which condone violence or contain propa-
ganda will not be accepted for selection.
3. Each director is permitted to enter one work
only.
4. Candidates must send their short films in DVD
PAL format by post no later than 20th May 2010

4. I candidati dovranno far pervenire il proprio
cortometraggio in formato DVD PAL per posta
entro il 20 maggio 2010 (farà fede il timbro postale
di spedizione). I supporti e i relativi allegati
dovranno essere inviati, in un plico chiuso riportante
la dicitura:
“Concorso Eolie in Video 2010”, a spese del mittente,
al seguente indirizzo: CENTRO STUDI E RICERCHE
DI STORIA E PROBLEMI EOLIANI – Onlus,
Via Maurolico, 15 – 98055 LIPARI (ME).
La spedizione della documentazione inviata è
a carico del partecipante. Ai fini doganali, si
prega di riportare sul collo l’indicazione: “Senza
valore commerciale, per soli scopi culturali”. La
documentazione inviata per partecipare alla
pre-selezione (ivi compreso il DVD) non sarà restituita.
5. Ogni partecipante dovrà inviare per la selezione:
. 1 copia del cortometraggio in DVD PAL;
. una copia cartacea della scheda di iscrizione
compilata e con firma originale per accettazione
del regolamento;
. la documentazione richiesta nella scheda di
iscrizione sia in formato cartaceo che in formato
digitale (Cd-rom o DVD).
6. I DVD inviati per la selezione non verranno restituiti
per nessun motivo e saranno conservati
nell’archivio del Centro Studi, che li renderà disponibili
alla consultazione per esclusivi motivi di
studio e di ricerca.
7. La selezione delle opere che parteciperanno
al concorso sarà effettuata a insindacabile giudizio
di una Giuria di Preselezione nominata dal
Direttore artistico del festival cinematografico
“Un Mare di Cinema”.
8. La direzione del festival è autorizzata ad utilizzare
i cortometraggi, sia quelli selezionati per il
concorso che quelli non selezionati, nell’ambito
di iniziative culturali organizzate o patrocinate
dal Centro Studi e Ricerche di Storia e Problemi
Eoliani nonché per scopi promozionali delle iniziative
suddette.
9. Nel caso di eventuali danneggiamenti arrecati
alle opere partecipanti al concorso per responsabilità
del Centro Studi, sarà rimborsato
unicamente il costo del supporto utilizzato
(DVD).
10. I cortometraggi selezionati per il concorso, il
cui numero sarà insindacabilmente stabilito
dalla Giuria di Preselezione, verranno proiettati
nel corso della manifestazione “Un Mare di Cinema”
che si terrà alle isole Eolie dal 9 al 18 luglio
2010.

The mailing of the documentation with be enti-
rely at the participants’ expense. For Customs
purposes, participants are requested to write on
the outside of the package: “Senza valore
commerciale, per soli scopi culturali” (n.d.t. No
commercial value, for cultural purposes only).
The documentation sent for participation in the
pre-selection (including the DVD) will not be re-
turned.
5. Every participant must send for the selection:
. 1 copy of the short film in DVD PAL format;
. one paper copy of the registration form duly
filled out and with original signature for accep-
tance of the regulations;
. the documentation requested on the registra-
tion form both on paper and in digital format
(Cd-rom or DVD).
6. The DVD’s sent for selection will not be retur-
ned for any reason and will be stored in the ar-
chives of the Centro Studi which will make them
available for consultation exclusively for study
and research purposes.
7. The selection of the works that will take part in
the competition will be the result of the irrever-
sible verdict of a Pre-selection Jury nominated
by the Artistic Director of the film festival “Un
Mare di Cinema”.
8. The organizers of the festival are authorized
to use the short films, both those selected for the
competition and those not selected, in the
course of cultural events organized or sponso-
red by the Centro Studi e Ricerche di Storia e
Problemi Eoliani as well as for promotional pur-
poses for the above-mentioned events.
9. In the case of damage to the works participa-
ting in the competition for which the Centro
Studi is responsible, only the cost of the medium
used (DVD) will be refunded.
10. The short films selected for the competition,
the number of which will be irreversibly set by
the Pre-selection Jury, will be screened in the
course of the event “Un Mare di Cinema” to be
held on the Aeolian Islands from 9th to 18th July
2010.

11. Una prestigiosa Giuria, anch’essa nominata
dal direttore artistico e composta da persona-
lità del mondo del Cinema, dello Spettacolo,
della Cultura e del Giornalismo, assegnerà il
premio “Eolie in video”, che verrà consegnato
ufficialmente durante la serata finale del festival
Un Mare di Cinema 2010. Al vincitore verrà al-
tresì assegnato un premio in denaro di euro
2.500,00 (duemilacinquecento). Il cortometrag-
gio vincitore verrà inoltre proiettato ad apertura
della ventottesima edizione di “Un Mare di Ci-
nema” nel 2011. Ad ulteriori cortometraggi che
si siano distinti per le loro qualità verranno asse-
gnati ulteriori premi o menzioni.
12. Autori, produttori e distributori dei cortome-
traggi premiati al concorso “Eolie in video” do-
vranno indicare nei titoli di testa, sui materiali
promozionali e stampa e su eventuali siti web
ufficiali il logo del Premio e il premio ricevuto.
13. Gli Autori e/o i Produttori dei film selezionati
saranno informati entro il 20 giugno 2010. La se-
lezione, la programmazione generale e il calen-
dario delle proiezioni sono di competenza
esclusiva della Direzione.
14. L’iscrizione di un film e l’invio della relativa
copia implica l’accettazione incondizionata
del presente bando di concorso in ogni sua
parte.
15. Per ogni eventuale controversia è compe-
tente il Foro di Messina.
16. Autori e/o Produttori rispondono del conte-
nuto delle proprie opere e dichiarano, con
l’iscrizione al Festival, di avere adempiuto ogni
obbligazione nei confronti di terzi derivante da
diritti d’autore.
17. Nel caso in cui l’Autore o la Produzione de-
cidano di ritirare la partecipazione di un film già
incluso in programma, verrà richiesto il paga-
mento della somma di € 1.000,00 (euromille/00)
a titolo di risarcimento danni.

11. A distinguished Jury, also nominated by the
Artistic Director and made up of personalities
from the worlds of entertainment, culture and
journalism, will assign the award “Eolie in video”,
which will be presented on the final evening of
the festival Un Mare di Cinema 2010. The winner
will also receive 2.500,00 (two thousand five
hundred) euros prize money. The winning short
film will, moreover, be screened at the opening
of the twenty-eighth “Un Mare di Cinema” festi-
val in 2011. Any other short films that stand out
for quality will be awarded additional prizes or
mentions.
12. Filmmakers, producers and distributors of the
short films awarded prizes in the “Eolie in video”
competition will be requested to show the logo
of the Award and the award received in the
opening credits, promotional material and the
press, and on any official web sites.
13. The filmmakers and/or the producers of the
films selected will be informed no later than 20th
June 2010. The selection, general programming
and scheduling of the screenings will be exclu-
sively the responsibility of the organizers.
14. Entry of a film and the mailing of the relevant
copy implies unconditional acceptance of
every part of this present notice of competition.
15. In case of dispute concerning the interpreta-
tion and/or execution of the present agree-
ment, the court of competent jurisdiction shall
be that of Messina.
16. Filmmakers and/or producers answer for the
content of their works and on competing in the
festival automatically acknowledge they have
fulfilled any obligations towards third parties
concerning royalties.
17. Should the filmmaker or the producers de-
cide to withdraw a film already included in the
programme, they will be required to pay the
sum of € 1.000,00 (one thousand euros) as com-
pensation for damages.
