Conditions of Entry


 


1.                  Participation


 


All European film producers and movie directors are invited to participate in the film festival.


 


Fiction short films in any genre, with no restriction of audience, can participate in the festival. The short films will be screened in 35mm format.


 


The festival organisation reserves the right to choose for future editions, with sufficient notice, a slogan or a theme to which the applicant films will have to be related.


 


 


2.                  Requirements


 


The short films will have been produced after the 1st January 2004.


 


Their length will not exceed 30 minutes.


 


Each entrant will present as many short films as he/she wishes.


 


Any short film shot in a language other than Spanish will be sent together with the final script (original version as well as a translation into Spanish or English) in order to allow the festival organisation to proceed with the Spanish subtitles.


 


The authors are responsible for the rights of their work(s).


 


3.                  Entry


 


In order to be considered for shortlisting, the following documentation of those films interested in participating in the festival should arrive at the organisation before the 15 th February 2005:


 


          Entry Form duly completed.*


          Video copy of the short film (VHS or DVD).*


          Films stills (floppy disk or CD-ROM, .jpg format).*


          Copy of the ID Card, Passport or any other identification document of the person or company submitting the application.*


          Descriptive resume of the film (shooting and production anecdotes, shooting location and or additional relevant information).**


          Final script in its original version and a translation into English or Spanish.***


 


* Compulsory for all applications.


** Optional.


*** Compulsory for all films whose original language is not Spanish.

The shortlisted VHS/DVD copies will be kept by the festival organisation and included in its archives.


 


4.                  Shortlisting


 


Out of all the copies received twenty five will be shortlisted and will participate in the festival. The shortlisting will be carried out by a committee of the organisation, under the sole criteria of quality.


 


The results of the shortlisting will be made public on the 1st March 2005. All the shortlisted entrants will be informed individually. The decision of the shortlisting committee is final and no discussion will be entered into.


 


The prints of all shortlisted films, will be required by the festival organisation on the 29th March 2005, at the latest.


 


The producers of shortlisted films are invited to send any available publicity and promotional materials with the submission of their films. They authorise the festival organisation to use these materials to promote the event and the participation of the film.


 


The shortlisted films will be screened in public sessions, according to the location, the dates and the timetables indicated on the official program of the festival or according to any other decision taken by the festival organisation.


 


5.                  Jury


 


The jury will be made up of representatives of local institutions, as well as recognised actors, movie directors and professionals.


 


The jury will be in charge of awarding the prizes, which will be made public at the end of the last projection session.


 


The members of the jury commit themselves to keep their decisions secret until after the official prize-giving ceremony. The jury decisions are final and no discussion will be entered into.


 


6.                  FIC MÓSTOLES 2005 Prize


 


Once all the shortlisted short films have been screened, the jury will award the following prizes:


 


BEST NATIONAL SHORT FILM


BEST FOREIGN SHORT FILM


BEST DIRECTOR


BEST ACTOR


BEST ACTRESS


 


The audience will award the following prize, which will also be made public after the last projection:


 


AUDIENCE PRIZE FOR BEST SHORT FILM


 


After each projection session, the audience will vote by answering a questionnaire. The vote of the audience is final and no discussion will be entered into.


 


Each awarded short film will win a statuette specially created for the event and six hundred euros (€600).


 


The public prize and the jury prize can be awarded to the same short film. All the Spanish and foreign shortlisted short films are eligible for the audience prize.


 


The awarded short films will be screened at a later stage (several dates not known yet) at the Filmoteca Municipal de Móstoles (Móstoles Film Library). Thus, the production companies agree to deliver a 35mm copy of the short films to the Filmoteca.


 


7.                  Acceptance of the Conditions of Entry


 


Submitting the Entry Form means accepting the Conditions of Entry and the decisions of the festival organisation, shortlisting committee and jury. Any issue not considered in the Conditions of Entry will be dealt with by the festival organisation.


 



 


Terms and Conditions


 


– When the applicants do not state their opposition, the films VSH/DVD copies will be kept in the audiovisual archives of the festival. They may be used, with the knowledge of the producers, to be screened in events peripheral to the festival.


 


– The delivery costs of the copies and prints will be paid by the production companies.


 


– The festival organisation will pay the delivery costs when returning the digital copies.


 


– The shortlisted short film producers authorize the festival organisation to use a fragment of their work (three minutes maximum) as information material on any communication media, Internet included. Thus, they will send, if required by the festival organisation, a copy in a Betacam SP format.


 


– The festival organisation reserves the right, during the festival, to screen the shortlisted films in locations other than those stated in the promotional materials of the festival and the Conditions of Entry.


 


– The authors of the shortlisted works may be invited formally to attend the festival.


 


– The festival organisation will not be held responsible for any accidental loss, damage or unforeseen while in possession of the films. Nonetheless, the organisation will take all due care and attention while using, handling and returning the films.
