Nei giorni scorsi la British Academy of Film and Televisions Art ha annunciato le nominations dell’edizione 2022 dei Bafta, giunti quest’anno al 75esimo anniversario. Analogamente all’edizione 2021, dove un vertiginoso cambio nelle procedure di votazione ha portato alla lista di nominati più inclusiva nella storia della cerimonia, anche quella corrente sembra nascere all’insegna di una maggiore inclusività.

Diversamente dai Golden Globes, a dominare gli “oscar inglesi” è Dune, che fa incetta di candidature (11) in tutte le categorie tecniche (oltre a quelle più importanti per il “miglior film” e per la regia). Seguono immediatamente i due favoriti dell’edizione, con Il potere del cane che afferma il proprio dominio pre-oscar con 8 candidature (tra cui Jane Campion per la regia, Benedict Cumberbatch per il “miglior attore protagonista”, Jesse Plemons e Kodi-Smit McPhee nella categoria “miglior attore non protagonista) e il nostalgico Belfast, nominato sia per il “miglior film”, sia per il “miglior film britannico” (un fattore di rilievo nei Bafta, che tendono a premiare le opere locali su quelle americane).

L’edizione 2022 dei Bafta si contraddistingue anche per una vocazione spiccatamente internazionale, evidenziata dalle candidature ottenute da Ryusuke Hamaguchi, Julia Ducournau e Audrey Diwan nella categoria “miglior regia”, rispettivamente per Drive My Car (vincitore a Cannes del premio alla miglior sceneggiatura), Titane (Palma D’Oro 2021) e L’événement (Leone D’oro a Venezia). L’adattamento del racconto di Murakami, che è stato nominato anche per la “miglior sceneggiatura non originale” se la vedrà inoltre con é stata la mano di Dio di Sorrentino (alla sua seconda nomination) nella categoria “miglior film in lingua straniera”. Tra i grandi assenti, figura sicuramente West Side Story di Spielberg, mentre sorprende la presenza di Don’t Look Up (nominato per il “miglior film” oltre alla candidatura di DiCaprio) e del giovane regista anglo-pakistano Aleem Khan (miglior regia per After Love).
