L'ultimo film del regista francese, interpretato da Denis Lavant, sarà al 30° Torino Film Festival, come pure Tabu di Miguel Gomes, che conquista l'ottavo posto.

Ben due posizioni per Abel Ferrara: al quarto posto con l'ultimo 4:44 Last day on earth e al settimo con Go Go Tales (del 2007, ma distribuito in Francia solo quest'anno). Un grande veterano: Sokurov con il suo Faust, Hong Sang-Soo a rappresentare l'Oriente con In Another Country, e due esponenti della nuova generazione di registi americani: Jeff Nichols con Take Shelter e Ira Sachs con Keeps the Light On, premiato con il Teddy Award durante l'ultima Berlinale.
